The Bulgarian Koleda (Christmas)
Българскo Коледно Тържество
Join us on Saturday, December 3rd, at 2PM to celebrate the Bulgarian Koleda. Bring our little friends (all ages) to hear stories, sing, dance and decorate our first Christmas tree! The celebration for our community is taking place at “Second Story Repertory Theater” in Redmond (16587 NE 74th ST, Redmond, WA 98052) and is organized by the Bulgarian Cultural and Heritage Center of Seattle .
Tickets are $20 for the whole family – Yes that means everyone in your family (grandma and grandpa included) – or $10 for singles. This is an event put on by volunteers. All proceeds go to paying for the venue rental and the Bulgarian Cultural and Heritage Center of Seattle’s mission to preserve and share Bulgarian culture and tradition far from our motherland. Tickets will be entered to win prizes. No child will be turned away because of lack of money to pay for a ticket.
In an interactive play-like form we will be making the masks, bells and costumes over two weekend workshops starting in early 2012, dancing and singing. If you can, please bring some simple traditional decorations for the survachki such as popcorn, dried fruit and small kravaicheta.
With special musical guest Alexander Eppler as well as performances by The Children’s Folk Dance Ensemble.
We are always in need of volunteers so to find out how you can help being part of the celebration, please e-mail Mariya: draga_fig@abv.bg
We look forward to sharing the magical setting of the Bulgarian Koleda with you and your children!
