Bulgarian Language and Culture courses offered 2013-2014 at the University of Washington!
With the collaborative efforts of the UW Slavic Department and the Bulgarian Culture and Heritage Center of Seattle, we are proud to announce that we will host Dr. Angel G. Angelov to teach Bulgarian language and culture courses!
Angel G. Angelov graduated at the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia (1978-1983). He received his doctoral degree at the same University in 1991 and he was elected for assistant professor at the Department of Slavic Studies. In 1995-96 he was a Fulbright visiting scholar at the Univesity of California, Los Angeles. Than, he specialized at the Aristotelian University in Thesaloniki, Greece. In 2001 he defended habilitation at the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia and became associate professor. Between 2005-2207 he was a visiting lecturer on Bulgarian language and culture at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.
Angelov pulished three monographs: Language Rules in the Suburbs of the Capital City (1999) – a typical microsociolinguistic study after the model of W. Labov and P.Trudgill; Bulgarian Language of Themis (2008), belongs to the field of forensic linguistics and is dedicated to lexical collocations in Bulgarian legal texts; and Ecolinguistics: Ecology of the endangered languages and linguistics of the endangered ecosystems (2012).
A. G. Angelov is a president of the International Sociolinguistic Society in Sofia, editor-in-chief of the last two volumes of the series Sociolinguistic issues (proceedings of the International Sociolinguistic Conference) and a co-editor of two thematic issues of International Journal of the Sociology of Language (1999 with M. Videnov and 2006 with D. Marshall), published byDe Gruyter under the general editorship of J. Fishman.

Курсове по Български език, фолклор, цивилизация и етнос през учебната 2013-2014 година
във Вашингтонски Университет, Сиатъл!
Със съвместните усилия на славянският отдел на Вашингтонски Университет, Сиатъл и Българския център за култура и традиции, Сиатъл се радваме да съобщим, че Д-р Ангел Г. Ангелов ще преподава курсове по Български език, Български фолклор и цивилизация и Език и Етнос.
Д-р Ангел Г. Ангелов завършва Св. Климент Охридски (1978-1983). Той е получил докторска степен в същия университет през 1991 г. и е избран за асистент в Катедрата по славянски филологии.
През 1995-96 г. той е бил Фулбрайт стипендиант в Univesity на Калифорния, Лос Анджелис. След това, се специализира в Аристотеловия университет в Солун, Гърция.
Между 2005-2207 той е гост-преподавател по български език и култура в Хумболтовия университет в Берлин, Германия.
През настоящата и част от следващата учебна година текущи и бъдещи студенти ще имат възможността да се запишат за класовете на Д-р Ангелов. Бихме се радвали да споделите за съществуването на тази програма със всеки, който се интересува от по-задълбочено изучаване на Български език и култура.
Предлагани курсове:
Български език: (Есенен семестър) от Понеделник до Четвъртък – 5:00 – 6:20 вечер
Български фолклор и цивилизация: (Есенен семестър ) Вторник и Четвъртък 12:30-2:20 следобед
Език и Етнос: (Зимен семестър) Сряда и Петък 12:30-2:20 следобед
